To coincide with the start of the new school year and fresh beginnings, the Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada has designated September 14-20, 2015, Acne Awareness Week in Canada!
Listed in Health Canada’s Calendar of Health Promotion, Acne Awareness Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness about acne, a common, treatable skin condition affecting 5 million Canadians.
Often dismissed as “just pimples”, acne can result in significant emotional distress and permanent scarring.
There are so many myths and misconceptions about acne such as “you just have to get through it”, “it’s caused by poor hygiene or diet”, or “nothing can be done about it”.
So for this first-ever Acne Awareness Week, we’re debunking the Top 5 Acne Myths that are holding Canadians back from getting acne under control, and feeling confident and happy.
During Acne Awareness Week, look for daily posts on our www.AcneAction.ca website, Fact or Myth? that will test your acne knowledge.
- You’re invited to join the conversation about acne awareness on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #youcanbeatacne. Please share posts from our Facebook Page, Acne Action, and retweet our tweets from @AcneAction. Thanks for helping to raise awareness about acne!
